The US is operating on making the process of visa application shorter for Indian citizens and starting 1 September 2019, certain candidates can appeal for a waiver from the compulsory interview.
In a statement to the associations of the travel agents, the US Consulate told the initiative strives to decrease turnaround times for renewals of visa and enhance customer service for visa appellants over India.
New Plans from 1 September 2019
Appellants renewing their US visa (subjected to specific conditions), children under the age of 14, and also senior citizen over the age of 79 can pass for an interview waiver while appealing for a US visa beginning from next month.
In its announcement, the US Consulate said that beginning from 1 September 2019, eligible candidates must schedule date of appointment to drop off their passport along with their visa application materials at one of its 11 places in the nation. A visa application center employee will evaluate the document checklist prior to accepting the appeal for delivery to the US Consulate or Embassy. Appellants will obtain a decision on their case in 7-10 business days of submission. There could be instances in which an appellant must attend for an interview, the consulate announced.
US visa application centers are present in Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Kochi, Pune, Jalandhar, and Ahmedabad.
The US’ portion of the worldwide long-haul travel market is on a four-year low since its former high of 13.7 percent in 2015, dropping to 11.7 percent in 2018, as per the Travel Association of US.
The drop in market share describes damages to the US economy of 14 million foreign visitors, $59 billion in foreign traveler spending, and 120,000 jobs, it stated. The association assumes the drop in the US share of the global travel market to remain till 2022.
The US reached 79.8 million total foreign visitors in 2019 with Mexico, Canada, and other overseas markets adding about 18.2 million, 21 million, and 40.6 million visitors, respectively, it stated.
