USA has witnessed sharp increase in number of Indian students entering the country over each year. A senior US envoy stated that the US embassy in India is processing good number of student visa applications from Indians. 

The US Consul General in Mumbai, Thomas J Vajda stated that the visa application number is increased by around 20 percent, however, the number of student visa applications is seen a increase of over 20 percent. 

He stated that Indians form the second major chunk in the US next to China. Further, he added that they can notice a huge rise in total number of Indian students studying in the country. Notably, 100,000 Indian students are pursuing their education in America. 

He added that the economy of India is growing and more people are showing interest to move to America because the country eases travel for investment, education, business and tourism. 

He mentioned that in India they granted 900,000 visas and 300,000 visas in Mumbai previous year. Therefore, visa issuance was up by 20 percent when compared to previous year. Vajda stressed that they have invested hundred million dollars in India to introduce new visa service facilities. 

Vajda specified that the US embassy in India receives around 2,000 visa applications each day. And, majority of applicants are given a ten-year visa and 65 percent of those who are obtaining H1B visas are Indians.
