According to the Micheal Pelletier, US Embassy, Deputy Chief of Mission, the rise in volume of mutual trade, India and the US should work together overtime. Currently, the business between India and the US is of $ 104 billion and business is only rising very quickly in the previous few years. As per the aim set by US Vice President Joe Biden, two nations should target to reach $500 billion related to the business activities.
Putting stress on jobs and investment prospects, he said that the Indian owned firms in the US has hired around 44,000 people and is contributing around $2 billion to the exports in the US. the US has also started the Initiative of Select USA for motivating additional overseas investors to set the base in our nation. And over many years, India has been the biggest delegations at the summits.
Talking about the rise in student numbers in the US for pursuing higher education, Micheal Pelletier also said that India is the stood at second place in sending its students to the US and when students return back home, they assist in strengthening the relationships between India and the US. The number of students from India pursuing education in the US is increasing very fast and 29% of increase has been recorded.
He also informed that around 69% of H-1B and 29% of H1N1 visas were issued to citizens from India and the US is continuously working towards improving facilities to issue early visas to Indian citizens. Previous year, around one million applications for visa were processed for the US.
The officials from the US Embassy has highlighted a process of hassle free for availing the chances in the fields like tourism, education and process for visa application.
CII Chairman, RM Khanna, also highlighted the requirement of relaxing the norms of visa for Indian citizens in the US and said that how citizens from India has contributed towards enhanced economy of the US.
The US Embassy targets to create awareness among leaders throughout India about prospects for engagements in the US.
