The engineering industry of Switzerland is eyeing at young people including women and older employees to fulfill the inadequacy of employees over the upcoming years.
The president of Swissmem, Hans Hess, stated that the immigration initiative has leaded the skills shortage issue to a new face. He added that 75% of Swissmem members grappled to hire qualified workers before the processing of the initiative.
The Swiss recruitment strategy is heading its way to offer flexible work terms such as job sharing and telecommuting to entice workers who are inadequate in the industry. Particularly, the trade association is looking forward to attract more women, older workers and apprentices as well.
Over the upcoming five years, Swissmem have to hire at least 17,000 new workers each year to plug gaps of people who are about to retire.
