Tourist arrivals on e-tourist visa grows to 635% in December last year

As many as 1,03,617 tourists had visited India on e-Tourist visa in the month of December last year, when compared to only 14, 083 during the same period in the year 2014 registering an increase of whopping 635.8%.

Citizens from the United Kingdom has retained its top position, which is followed by the tourists from the US and then Russia, are among the nations who are availing this e-tourist visa facility

According to the press statement which was issued by the Tourism Ministry, the e-tourist visa facility was started from 27th November 2014, and currently, it is made available to the citizens of 113 nations who are arriving at 16 Indian airports.

In the previous year's December month, around 1,03,617 travelers had came in India on e-tourist visa when compared to just 14, 083 during December month in the year 2014 registering an increase of whopping 635.8%.

During last year’s period, around 4,45,300 travelers had visited India on e-tourist visa, compared to merely 39,046 during the same period in the year 2014, registering an increase of an unbelievable 1040.4%.

The credit of this increase might be given to the facility of e-tourist visa which was provided for 113 nations against the previous visa on arrival scheme for 43 nations.

The list of top 10 nations who are availed this facility of e-tourist visa in last year’s December month were UK with 23.81%, the US with 19.59%, Russia with 9.33%. Australia with 5.44%, Germany with 4.86%, France with 4.44%, Canada with 4.40%, China with 3.10%, Korea with 1.83% and Ukraine with 1.67%.
