In the first draw of the New Year held on January 17 Manitoba issued 626 invitations to candidates seeking a provincial nomination for PR. It is one among the nine Canadian provinces which participate in Provincial Nominee Program. Here there is a provision for the participating provinces for nominating a specific number of economic immigration candidates each year for PR.
Candidates belonging to the Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and International Education streams of Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program received invitations to seek PR in this draw. Skilled Workers Overseas received 394 Letters of Advice to Apply. There were a few Express Entry candidates having an Expression of Interest profile with the Program in it but their number is not specified.
Details regarding Express Entry
Express Entry pathway of the province has a link with the federal EE system, which supervises the pool of candidates. These candidates belong to the three Federal Skilled immigration programs of Canada. Moreover, such candidates having the provincial nomination receive 600 additional points in their EE Rank score. This serves as an effective assurance to them. After this, they get an invitation to seek PR from the Government.
All EE candidates, who seek the Manitoba nomination, also need to register a separate EOI profile, with the Program. Profiles get a score based on several factors like education, language proficiency and work experience in the occupation that has a considerable demand.
The norms for EE candidates who received an LAA in the Jan 17 draw were:
• Having a valid EE ID,
• A validation code of job seekers and finally,
• Minimum six months of experience in top demand occupation
The details of beneficiaries
The Program also issued LAAs to Skilled foreign Workers, having a close relative living in Manitoba or having work experience in it. It was necessary for the candidates to possess recent work experience of six months in a job having good demand in Manitoba. Having minimum language proficiency was also necessary. The score of the Skilled Workers Overseas candidate securing a low rank in the two groups was 575.
27 Skilled Workers Overseas candidates received the invitation, in the Strategic Recruitment Initiative. Here the minimum score necessary for candidates was 729.
The MPNP also invited 200 candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and also 32 in the International Education Stream
Furthermore, the score for Skilled Workers in Manitoba candidates was 650. This Stream caters to eligible qualified temporary overseas workers as well as international student graduates who presently work in Manitoba and have an offer of a permanent job with a local employer.
International Education Stream
This stream was created last year and is a fast pathway to seek permanent residence for global graduates belonging to provincial post-secondary institutions. Moreover, they need to possess the skills necessary for the employers.
There are three pathways in this Stream
• Career Employment Pathway,
• Graduate Internship Pathway, and finally
• Student Entrepreneur Pathway.
