Prince Edward Island Holds a Final Draw and Invites 111 Aspirants

On December 19 Prince Edward Island held its final draw for 2019 and issued 111 invitations under the system of Expression of Interest. 100 of these were issued to Express Entry and Labor Impact candidates, and 11 to the Business Impact category. In 2019 it held 12 draws and totally invited 1,629 candidates, of which 1,436 were in the Express Entry/ Labor Impact class.

The minimum score requirement for candidates in the Business Impact was 140 points, an increase of 10 points to the earlier draw and 193 in the Business Impact stream.

PEI had launched the system of Expression of Interest in 2018 and always conducts monthly draws.

Another fact is that last year PEI invited 1,446 candidates totally. 1,240 belonged to the Express Entry and Labor Impact category and 206 for the Business candidates. The biggest draw happened on Oct 18th, 2018, in which 297 candidates received the invitation.

Express Entry Stream in the PEI


This is operated on considering aspirants who presently exist in the Pool (federal) for the nomination by the province. It adds 600 marks to the CRS score of candidates, serving as an effective guarantee to receive the ITA for immigration.

The two paths in PEI Express Entry are for candidates who have a job offer. Another is for candidates who do not have a job offer

Lab our Impact Category featuring Skilled Worker Stream


This has a focus on employers and allows skilled professionals who have the PEI employment offer. They are nominated for permanent residence when they fulfill these criteria:

• A full-time PEI job offer from a business in occupations classified under the skill level 0, A or B of its National Occupational Classification;

• The age of all the aspirants has to be 21 to 55 years;

• Having post-secondary education, and fourteen years of education;

• Two years of full-time work experience during the last 60 months

• Plenty of settlement funds;

• Proficiency in French/English;

• A wish to settle in PEI

Critical Worker Stream

It resolves labor shortages and attracts foreign workers who are already in PEI with a work in specified demand occupations. The criteria for nomination are:

Full-time employment offer from a PEI business in the occupations of:

• Truck drivers and Laborers;

• Customer care representatives;

• Food and beverage servers; and Housekeeping attendants

1. They must have six months of work experience in a local business that offers employment;

2. A valid work permit in Canada;

3. The age of the aspirants has to be 21 to 55 years;

4. Having High school diploma, and 12 years of education;

5. Two years of full-time work experience during the last 60 months

6. Proficiency in French or English;

7. Plenty of settlement funds;

8. A wish to settle in PEI

Category of PEI Business Impact 

Work Permit Stream


Persons applying in the Work Permit Stream of PEI have to get work permit in the country and also work for a local business for a specific time based on the Performance Agreement.

After fulfilling the terms of a Performance Agreement, applicants have to invest $150,000 in the business and manage it daily in PEI.

In the past there were direct provincial permanent residence business streams, but these were later closed.
