According to a report, Indonesia is focusing on raising the number of tourists from India to Indonesia. The Tourism Ministry had recently held a annual event in Mumbai, and it was revealed that last year around 2,62,000 tourists from India has visited Indonesia. And the Tourism Ministry has set an aim of luring around 3,50,000 Indian tourists this year.
Saut Siringoringo, Consul General, Indonesian Consulate General, Mumbai; and Ngurah Putra, Special Advisor, MoT General Affairs, Indonesia, had attended an event. Putra told that Indian market is extremely prospective for tourism in Indonesia. And there has been an increase of 15% in the number of Indian tourists visiting Indonesia every year.
Recently Indonesia has introduced a policy of free 30-day short stay visa for Indian tourists. Direct air connectivity would start from December this year.
According to Siringoringo, India has a huge potential for tourism boost in Indonesia. India is presently the seventh largest contributor to Indonesian Tourism. Indonesia is planning to introduce latest packages for golf enthusiasts and senior citizens; they are also going to enhance their hospitality and infrastructure service.
