More than 2.58 lakh overseas tourists had availed the facility of the e-tourist visa during this year’s start till the month of October.
According to the statement from the senior official from the Tourism Ministry, around 2,58,182 tourists had availed this facility of e-tourist visa (ETV) during the start of this year ie from January till October this year whereas only 21,995 people got the visa on arrival during the same period previous year, thus registering the increase of 1073.8%.
The officials also said that the huge boost could be attributed to the introduction of the e-tourist visa (ETV) for 113 nations as against the prior scheme of visa on arrival for only 12 countries.
This scheme of E-Tourist Visa was launched in November last year.
According to an official, overall 56,477 overseas tourists had availed this facility of e-tourist visa in the previous month, when compared to only 2,705 during the same month previous year, thus registered the hike of 1,987.9%.
Presently, this e-tourist visa facility is accessible for the people of 113 nations arriving at 16 airports. Large number of tourist coming from the UK had availed this scheme with around 22.80%, which was followed by the US with 16.7%, Germany with 7.02%, France with 7.09%, Australia with 5.53% and Canada with 4.39%.
