The United States has gained prominence as the world’s foremost destination for higher education.
Business, engineering and science are the major streams opted by the thousands of students coming to US to pursue their education.
In the academic year 2012-2013, there were 819,644 international students, who have pursued their education in United States, according to a report generated by experts.
There were 524,000 international students in 2012 compared to 110,000 in 2001, which had revealed an increase of five times during this period.
China stood in the lead position as regards to the source of students who were in the country on F-1 visas, while India stood in the second position, which represented 15%, followed by South Korea, which constituted 10%.
Many international students take part in Optional Practical Training (OPT) program after completing their studies.
