State nomination could assist foreign graduates to work and live in Australia

Many foreign students who are pursuing degree in Australia always looks to reside on and work in Australia after they complete their graduation and Australia is also keen to retain such talented students.

Immigration officials of Australia are reminding those students who are pursuing their graduation, and if they wish to continue to do job and reside in Australia, they could look to the state nomination as the way for doing so.

State nomination could assist foreign graduates to work and live in Australia

According to an immigration official, as part of its goal to lure and retain the foreign talent in the specific areas of skills, the states and territories of Australia could offer routes to work and live for the foreign graduates.

He also said that these routes are through the state nominations that help with the application process for skilled visa. Every territory and state manages its own state nominated process of immigration. 

The state nomination offers a route to permanent residency for the foreign graduates, but that is not a visa application, it helps in meeting the criteria for Australian visa.

If nominated, a graduate should lodge an application for visa with immigration department (DIBP) who will assess and grant all the visas.

By applying for the state nomination as foreign graduate, applicants could gain from access to much more extensive list of occupation and could also get more points towards Federal points test for 190 skilled nominated visa and 489 skilled regional provisional visa.

You should check the rules for state where you want to do the job. Other rules might or may not differ; you should also note that in some cases for the skilled job experience to be considered, it should in list of skilled occupation on the list of state nominated occupation.

There are exemptions, depending on situations, and few occupations have limited places in some states. When these places are filled, applications for the state nominations are not accepted.
