Swiss to retain Immigration Quotas for Bulgarian, Romanian job seekers
The government of Switzerland has decided to retain immigration quotas for Eastern European Job Seekers i.e. the Romania and Bulgaria job seekers until 31 May 2016.
In the agreement of the freedom of movement, signed between European Union and Switzerland, a specified transition period of seven years is set which is going to expire on 31 May 2016. The Bulgarian Telegraph Agency has mentioned that the news was revealed by the local daily 20 minutes.
Earlier, Switzerland voted in a nationwide referendum to reintroduce quotas.
A total of 15,199 Romanians and Bulgarians settled permanently in the country by the end of 2013. From the transition period’s first year i.e. 1 June 2009, the people of the two countries were subjected to quota restrictions.
