53 countries to avail electronic visa-on-arrival facility soon

Tourism Minister of India has newly shortlisted 53 more nations’ in the second round of authorization for proffering visa-on-arrival facility. Few of the well developed nations which are likely to be in the VOA list are France, Canada, the UK, Greece, Kuwait, Spain, Iran, China and Turkey.

In addition to 43 national, Finance Minister of the country, Arun Jaitley newly promulgated in the budget that around 150 nations would be proffered with the VoA facility in a phase wise manner.

Tourism ministry of the country added that they would focus mainly on the tourists. In the ensuing list, they are about to include the nations with the greatest count of the overseas travelers coming into the country. 

Sources added that the final list will be released only after the successful completion of inter-ministerial conversations and after receiving of proper grants from external affairs as well as home affairs ministry. No exact time frame was put forth in the budget for offering online visa facility, as this scheme was first promulgated by UPA government earlier. Few of the renowned nations which have cleared VoA previous year are Germany, Australia, Japan, Israel, Brazil, and the US. Excluding Afghanistan, Nigeria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Somalia and Sudan, all other 180 nations will be included in the electronic visa list of the country.

Since the inception of this new facility the count of overseas tourists visiting the nation has increased from 2,700 to 14,083 during December i.e. country has a seen a rapid of 421.6% in 2014. Similarly country has seen an increase of 1214.9% with 25,023 travelers making use of electronic visas when compared to 2014 January count of 1,903.
