Malaysia welcomes 11.53 million tourists between January to May

Malaysia has received roughly 11.53 million foreign tourists during the period from January until May, showing a rise of 10.1 percent compared to the equivalent period previous year.

Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the country has adopted numerous measures to bring around the confidence of tourists, which includes exempting  tourists from India, China, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka from single entry visa  expenses for the last quarter of 2014 and 2015.

The minister said that the nation is aiming for 29.4 million tourist arrivals in addition to collection of RM89 billion as revenue for next year. 

Besides, foreign tourist arrival in the nation has increased by 2.7 per cent in 2013 representing 25.72 million compared to 25.03 million in 2012.
