134th Express Entry Draw Held in Canada - Issues 3,400 PR Invitations

On January 8th Canada held its First Draw in 2020 and Invited 3,400 Express Entry Candidates to get the PR. In this draw the minimum score of the Comprehensive Ranking System increased by four points to 473 in comparison to the earlier draw. In 2019 IRCC had invited 85,300 applicants. Canada has an admission target of 85,800, high-skilled immigrants for 2020 but in 2019 it was 81,400.

IRCC had set an annual record 89,800 for Express Entry ITAs in 2018.

There was a tie-break rule, set on Dec 27th, 2019, 9.35 Am EST. In case there are more candidates with the same minimum score of CRS, the candidates submitting the profiles in Express Entry prior to the specified date and time get an invitation.

Details of Express Entry

The immigration system of Express Entry began on Jan 1st, 2015, to manage applications of skilled workers in Federal programs. These are:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Canada Experience Class
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Parts of the Provincial Programs


In 2020 in the opinion of Stakeholders there will be 30 draws and that will issue 80,000 invitations and many draws will have a CRS score in the range of 470 so that immigration authorities in Canada can meet the annual immigration targets for 2020.
