New Zealand’s immigration department decided to accelerate the visitor visa process for the premium clients of Air China and China Eastern Airlines. This fast-track program is exclusive for Gold and Platinum members of Air China, and China Eastern Airline’s Gold and Silver members.
The New Zealand First leader, Winston Peters criticized that SkyCity wanted to hasten visa processing to draw Chinese high-rollers who gambled, regarding the deal with China Southern Airlines in 2012. Leaked memos stated that these clients did not want to answer questions regarding their employment and financial history.
The applicants must still meet the health and character requirements, and that makes sure the visa processing quite robust and streamlined. The Immigration Minster of New Zealand, Nathan Guy is quite confident that the immigration system will not be compromised, though concerns were raised.
China Eastern operates directly from Shanghai whereas Air China has direct flights from Beijing to Auckland.
