The Government of India is all set to extend facility of e-tourist visa which permits overseas travelers to obtain the travel document online, to 37 additional countries by the end of the current fiscal year.
As per the statistics from Ministry of Tourism, this service which is presently available to the people of 113 nations who arrive at 16 airports of India has witnessed significant success after it was launched on 27th November 2014.
As per the official, the government of India is set to extend the facility of e-visa to 150 nations by the month of March this year.
During last year’s January-November, a total of 3,41,683 overseas travelers arrived on the e-tourist visa, compared to just 24,963 during same period in the year 2014, enrolling a growth rate of 1268.8%.
This high growth might be given credit to the start of e-tourist visa for 113 nations as against the previous Tourist on Arrival Scheme for the people of 12 countries.
