Prince Edward Island held the first draw for the year on January 16th and has issued 123 invitations to immigration candidates.
Forward looking Program
The PEI Provincial Nominee Program invited the candidates in the Labor Impact, and Business Impact class of the Express Entry. 110 were candidates invited in Express Entry and Labor Impact category and they can move ahead to apply for the nomination to take up permanent residence.
Express Entry Category in PEI is linked to the federal Express Entry that administers the candidates’ pool for three immigration categories of:
• Canadian Experience Class
• Federal Skilled Worker Class,
• Federal Skilled Trades Class
The candidates in Express Entry, receiving the provincial nominations, get 600 additional points in the federal rank score. After these points there is a guarantee to get the invitation to apply for permanent residence from the Canadian Government in a successive draw.
The norm for consideration of nomination is that the candidates in Express Entry first have to submit Expression of Interest to the PNP separately.
The Dynamics of the PNP
Based on the score in the point grid the EOI profiles of top-ranked candidates get a priority to apply in the monthly draws.
The PNP has not provided the breakdown of the numbers about the Express Entry candidates receiving the invitation or the requirement in the minimum EOI score.
The candidates belonging to the Labor Impact Category were also invited in this draw but their numbers were unspecified
The Labor Impact class caters to foreign nationals who have the valid provincial job offer and also get support from the local employer. There are three streams in it:
• Critical Workers
• Skilled Workers,
• International Graduates
Submission of the EOI profile is a requirement for consideration in the provincial nomination here.
Finally, 13 candidates were invited with the EOI profile in Work Permit Stream of the Business Impact class. They had a minimum score of 125.
This Stream caters to people interested in owning as well as operating a business on the Island.
