On May 16 Prince Edward Island issued the invitations to 104 overseas candidates in various categories, to submit the application, to the provincial nominee programs. These were Express Entry, Business Impact, and Labor Impact categories.
The PNP of Prince Edward Island permits the province, in nominating a specific number of immigrant candidates that match with the requirements of the labor market. 90 of the 104 invitations were issued to candidates who registered their Expression of Interest with the Island's PNP in the Express Entry Category, or for different streams in the Labor Impact Category.
The EE Category has a link with the Federal Express Entry that supervises the national pool of candidates. It covers economic immigration categories of:
• Canadian Experience Class
• Federal Skilled Trades Class
• Federal Skilled Worker Class,
Additionally, the Express Entry candidates have to register a separate EOI with the PEI PNP to get the consideration for the provincial nomination.
Candidates get the score out of 100 depending on skilled work experience, education, and also in language proficiency factors. Moreover, there is no job offer requirement in Island but it gives preference to such candidates who live and work in the province.
The candidates obtaining the top scores, receive the invitation to apply and also seek the provincial nomination in the draws of the PNP - EOI pool.
Candidates of Express Entry nominated by the provincial Program get additional 600 points in the CRS score. It assures an invitation to seek permanent residence in a later Express Entry Draw.
The PEI PNP has not specified regarding the number of Express Entry candidates among the 90 invitations in the Labor Impact Category. Furthermore, they did not provide the minimum score requirement for receiving the invitation in this draw.
The Labor Impact Category has the streams of:
• Skilled Workers
• Critical Workers
• International Graduates
The applications of the nominated persons in the Labor Impact streams are processed for permanent residence by the Federal Immigration Department of Canada outside the Express Entry system.
Business Impact Invitations
The lowest score in the Business Impact Work-Permit Stream was 107. Moreover, these Permit holders must own and operate a provincial business.
The application of the Invited Candidates, to apply to the PEI PNP is approved for obtaining a temporary work-permit for establishing their businesses.
Finally, when they meet the Performance Agreement conditions the business applicants can apply and seek permanent residence.
The next draw in Expression of Interest will be held on June 20, 2019. Additionally, PEI has achieved the fastest growth in population in the Atlantic Provinces. Immigration has also played a major role in it.
