Restrictions on Immigration will harm UK economy

In an interview with BBC, Chief Executive of ‘Enderby's Next’, Lord Simon Wolfson said that restrictive policies that erect barriers to trade and free movement would deplete the United Kingdom.  Simon also said that immigration was not the main issue due to which Britons voted to leave the European Union. He considered that any move to cut down the immigrants would impact the economy.

Responding to the question on how people felt betrayed regarding policies to restrict immigrants, he said that if the United Kingdom fails to contain immigrants below 1,00,000 every year, it doesn’t mean that the ‘people voted to leave’ campaign is betrayed. He said that in such cases, people have to see immigrants working in hospitals and playing vital roles in the daily life of the United Kingdom.

By the ‘Brexit’ referendum, Britons voted to leave the European Union on June 23rd, 2016.
