Singaporeans Join the United States Global Entry Scheme

Singaporeans who frequently fly to the United States can move quickly with very fewer immigration checks. The joint program Trusted Traveler Programme (TTP) arranges automated kiosks at entry points of both the countries.

Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) in a release said that frequent travelers can now enroll for the Global Entry scheme online. Successful applicants must attend for an interview at the United States embassy in Singapore. 

The visa program will ensure that traveler moves smoothly without much immigration checks. Reciprocally United States nationals will also have similar kind of facility when they enter Singapore airports. 

The Global Entry scheme processes the applications of trusted travelers, approves him for facility. 

Singapore is the first country from South East Asian country to avail this facility in the United States. The beneficiaries under this stream will no longer have to wait in queues; they will have faster immigration procedures. 

This pact between both countries marks 50 years of bi-lateral relationship between Singapore and the United States. 

This allows the immigration department to focus on those individuals whose identities are not clear.
