UK keen to attract as many students from India as possible

The Chevening scholarship program which has been started by the UK Government is proving to be world’s largest scholarship program and it is also extending around 130 scholarships with budget of 2.6 million pounds for the year 2015-2016, told Acting High Commissioner to India, Mr. Andrew Soper.

Mr. Soper had currently inaugurated the Education UK Exhibition, which was attended by around 60 universities which are based in the UK. According to him, the UK is very eager to lure many students from India. UK is trying to address these matters and also trying to make things easy for the Indian students.  The UK is also trying to make process for students from India to obtain a visa as easy and effortless as possible. He also said that they are trying to simply the process of visa application and are also widening the guidance on how to apply for the visa.

According to him, the UK had opened additional centers for visa application across India; there are many application centres in India than in any other nation. The net outcome is that it is not hard to get the UK student visa. Previous year, around 88% of the applications for the UK visa were successful. In the Chevening scholarship scheme, UK has invested more funds in India over previous two years.

Acting British High Commissioner to India also told informed that this year, UK is offering around 130 Chevening scholarships which are post graduate scholarships for the students who seek to study in the UK. And in India it is the biggest program of Chevening scholarship from the UK.  And this year, UK is also offering around 260 Great scholarships in partnership with the UK universities.

He also said that the students from India who study in the UK can also work in the UK once they get the graduate level of job which are going to pay them around 21,000 pounds each year. The UK lure over 93,000 foreign students every year, and a large number of students come from the countries like the US, China, and India. Indian students in the UK are opting for business, management, engineering and IT courses. The UK also provides around 40,000 various courses and the students from India are also going for many other vocational courses also.
