British tourists travelling to India under the latest e-visa system

Tourists from Britain are using the most of the latest e-visa scheme which has made simple for the Britons to travels to India since it was widened to include the UK citizens in the summer season.

According to the statistics from the Tourism Ministry, it reveals that nearly a quarter of citizens from Britain arrived in India using the electronic system previous month.

Out of 83,501 international tourists who landed at the airports of India previous month had applied for their visas online and 24% of them were from Britain, followed by the US with 16% and Russia with 8%.

India has been the most accepted destination for people of Britain who want to visit India for a holiday, statistics also revealed that around 8,00,000 citizens from Britain visit India every year.

The new e-visa seems to have been gripped. It has minimized the time and expense needed in getting official permission for travelling to India.

This E-Tourist Visa was started in November 2014, around 113 countries from around the world can make use of this scheme. It permits the tourists to apply for the visa remotely via government website where the entire procedure is completed in four days. The cost of the visa for India for the passport holders of the UK has been minimized from the previous 89 pounds to 40 pounds.

India is witnessing the remarkable success, as the increase in e-visa applications of around 2713% when the statistics for the previous month are compared to November 2014. The giant leap could largely due to the expansion of scheme in the month of August for including the countries like Mexico, Australia and Vietnam.

E-travelers visiting to India are needed to arrive at one of the 16 designated airports. Delhi airports accounts for more travelers with 45% followed by Mumbai with 18% and Goa with 15%.
