According to the new Australian High Commissioner to India, Harinder Sidhu, there has been the threefold increase in Indo born Australians in the previous ten years with the country now becoming home for few half of million immigrants from India.

There are around 53,000 Indian students and around 2.33 lakh visas were granted to visitors from India to Australia previous year.

The new High Commissioner also told that while business has been rising up slowly in the previous few years, bilateral ties has got a wonderful boost since a meeting between Prime Ministers of both the nations.

She also informed that the bilateral ties between the two nations have focused on education and training services, the business basket is getting rich with the rise in the share of healthcare and medical technology, eye care services, research alliance in healthcare and many other services are being added. 

Australia has previously announced that it would start a long term three-year multiple entry visas for Indians from July this year. This step is likely to lure increased spending tourists for repeat visits to Australia.

This visa aims at frequent short-term tourists to Australia would let entry in Australia multiple times on similar visa with every stay valid for three months. This step came before the travel and holiday season in India.
