According to the current information from the government, India has emerged as the second biggest source nation for permanent residents in Canada, accounting for over 38,000 or 15% of the entire.

The yearly report on the immigration has showed an increased in a number of permanent residents in Canada from India. The latest information for the year 2014 has revealed that there has been an increase of over 5000 permanent residents from India when compared to the statistics for the last year.

India stood at second position, just next to the Philippines as the source nation for Canadian PRs. Since many years, it has been staying in the top three source nations, along with China and Philippines.

The report has also revealed that Canada would permit additional 20,000 immigrants this year.  According to the Canadian Immigration Minister, John McCallum, Canada is the nation which has been build with the help of generous immigration programs. It is important that the programs and initiatives of Canadian government go on to adapt to Canada’s and the changing requirements of the world.

As per the report, the plan also emphasizes on the family reunification and moving towards issuing immediate permanent residency to the latest spouses who enters Canada, thereby removing the conditional two year period of waiting.

Canada is the home to over 1.25 million individuals of Indian origin, and around 19 Indo-Canadians were also elected in the previous year’s general elections.
