In order to increase the number of Indian travelers, the Government of Malaysia has started an Electronic Travel Authorization Visa (e-visa) for short visits to Malaysia. Presently, the facility of e-visa is available for Indian citizens who are living in India only and this visa would be valid for an initial journey reside of utmost one month in Malaysia for the purpose of tourism.
India is key contributor to Malaysian Tourism. Previously, around 7,22,141 travelers from India had visited Malaysia and now it has became the 6th biggest contributor to the arrivals of tourists.
According to the Director of Tourism Malaysia, Mumbai, Malaysia is working hard for making travel to its country as comfortable as it could get and starting a e-visa is a key step towards that direction. They are confident that with easing the process of visa many more Indian citizens would now consider Malaysia as their first choice for holiday destination.
Malaysian e-visa comes at a charge of around 2,710 and could be availed within one or two days with the duration period of three months.
Authorities of Tourism around the world are vying for getting the attention of Indian citizens as the travelers from India are now getting largely noticed at the international tourist destinations. The outbound travel of India, industry estimates recommends is increasing at 15 to 20% each year. As per the Industry predictions, the number of Indian citizens who are traveling abroad is going to increase at around 50 million by the year 2020.
