Nasscom hopeful as India moves to WTO on US visa fee issue

According BVR Mohan Reddy, Nasscom Chairman, Nasscom has been working with the India government on this matter. One of our recommendations was to take this issue to the WTO for protecting the interests of Indian firms that sought visas from the US.

The Commerce Ministry has taken this issue to the WTO against the issue of US work visa fee for the applicants who seek H-1B and L-1 visas which are also called as non immigrant temporary work visas.

Mohan Reddy told that the WTO has acknowledged the receipt of complaint and would look into the appeal. It would write to the government of the US on the objections raised by India and will ask it to withdraw the steps.

The measure to hike the visa fee came as the shock to the IT firms of India. Indian Prime Minister has already spoken to US President and urged him to look into the matter.
