New online Umrah visa applications for overseas pilgrims

The Haj minister Bandar bin Mohammed bin Hamza Asaad Al Hajjar said that all the Umrah visa applications will be now received online.

The minister urged the operators to take up the task of offering the best online visa services to tourists as a responsibility. The government of Umrah has launched this application program on 23 Nov.

The online visa application system has run successfully with six million requests the previous year. They have found only 6000 tourist applications as illegal ones in the country, according to the ministry.

This online facility would enhance the Muslim pilgrims’ count and the projects undertaken for the expansion of the two holy mosques King Abdullah can be developed soon with the tourists’ inflow.

All the new norms will be released by the end of 2014, which are expected to advance the services to pilgrims. Few of the services that come under this new scheme are issuing of visas, giving the training for service employees, dealing with the countries that don’t have the operators of Umrah and operating the board agencies according to Hajjar.

In order to service the pilgrims in a proper way, the ministry has started a website of its own. He further revealed that all the previous errors must be modified before the Umrah season ends.

These new online visa application filing will decrease the processing duration and the rejection or acceptance of visa request through online will not take more than five hours, Hajjar said.
