Oman exempts SMEs from ban on recruitment
The Ministry of Manpower of Sultanate of Oman along with the Public Authority for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises have announced that the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are exempted from ban on expatriate recruitment up on meeting essential requirements.
The decision firmly declares that the endeavor should be handled by the owners for full time and properly registered. These enterprises should have insurance from the Public Authority for Social Insurance along with being enrolled at the Public Authority of Manpower Register as job-seeker. The enterprise meeting the expat labor work permit requirements in compliance with the ministry requirement list will be issued a letter by the authority.
The authorities are working to regularize work permits for Small and Medium Enterprises that are planning to bring expatriates for construction sector and for housekeeping. The procedures are intended to enable SMEs to obtain expatriate- work permits and facilitate them to satisfy contractual compulsions arising with third parties.
