According to the Tourism Agency of Japan, the number of overseas tourists to Japan in the year 2015 had reached 19.74 million, and these visitors had spent around 3.8 trillion yen that is around $29.6 billion, both the figures hitting latest record highs.
The number of travelers to Japan has increased, the main reason behind this increase is the weaker yen, which is the Japanese currency that motivates the visitors to visit and spend in the nation, as these statistics has came closer to the government of Japan’s target of getting 20 million tourists from abroad by the year 2020, the year when the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games would be held.
The agency had also given credit for the increase in number of travelers and their increased spending to the much-relaxed visa needs for the travelers from other Asian nations and the expansion of various items that are made available for being bought t through duty-free.
