Rio Olympics message: "Earthlings, let's replant, let's save the planet"

Brazil displayed its rich history and glorious culture on the opening day of the 31st Olympic Games, which was officially launched on August 5th, 2016.  

Rio Olympics message: “Earthlings, let’s replant, let’s save the planet.”

The organizers kept aside their passion for football, and made depletion of natural resources the central theme. The four-hour long ceremony was attended by more than 11,000 athletes from 209 countries of the world. It included the Olympic refugee teams as well. 

This is the first event, held with such huge splendor in South America, where the acting President of Brazil, Michel Temer, declared the commencement of the games. The International Olympic Committee chief, Thomas Bach, and United Nations head Ban-Ki Moon, have given a lengthy speech during the opening ceremony. 

After the formal announcement of the Games, Vanderlei de Lima, legendary marathon winner of Brazil, had lit the Olympic cauldron. The spectators witnessed memorable clashes and highlighted the best effort of Brazil to make the world a better place! 

The organizers of the opening ceremony, best explained the need of saving the world from harmful effects of global warming and considered it as a healing time. The Olympic message states “Earthlings, let’s replant, let’s save the planet.”
