Russian-North Korean intergovernmental commission’s co-chairman, Alexander Galushka stated that both North Korea and Russia should have a mutual visa-free policy to boost tourism.
Addressing a meeting on October 2014, Galushka along with the Ri Su-yong, Foreign Minister of North Korea expressed a number of concerns with regards to bilateral relations including the visa issues. Ri was in favor of a visa-free policy as per the Russian minister.
Galushka also mentioned that Russian firms who are doing business in North Korea were facing problems because of non-availability of multi-entry visa. He added that the issue at the end of the year acquired a precedent-the nationals of Russia were granted with a long-term multiple visa.
Further, he added that at the beginning of 2014, it was not viable to even envisage that the nationals of Russia would obtain a long-term visa, but now there is a good progress in the plan.
