Saskatchewan Conducts Final Entrepreneur Stream Immigration Draw of 2019

Making a Gradual Process

In the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program 62 were invitations issued for immigration where the Candidates had to score 120 points for qualifying. Originally this draw was scheduled for Nov 7th but was moved for allowing the introduction of changes in the program criteria. Moreover, the province had launched an Entrepreneur stream to cater to international graduates in December.

Under the present Entrepreneur stream of SINP, candidates arrive in Saskatchewan by taking the Work Permit, before they are nominated to get the permanent residence after establishing their business.

The requirement is that the Candidates must possess the $500,000 net worth and also invest $300,000 when the business has a location in Saskatoon or Regina or, $200,000 if it is in another area of Saskatchewan. So far the 325 candidates were invited to apply in this Stream in 2019, and in the past year, the numbers were 824.

Better Performance

In this draw 27 additional invitations were issued in comparison to the earlier draw. The figures of its largest draw were in October 2017, with 265 invitations to candidates.

In 2020 Saskatchewan plans to hold the Entrepreneur draws on Jan 7th and March 5th.

The frequency of draws in the province in 2018 is once every two months instead of the three months earlier.

There are three stages in the process of the Entrepreneur stream:

Firstly, the candidates express an interest, and the second stage is an Invitation for submitting an application followed by the Nomination.

The EOI has to meet these entry requirements:

• The Minimum net worth must be $500,000 that is acquired lawfully

• Entrepreneurial/relevant managerial experience of three years

• Investing $300,000 in Saskatoon or Regina or, $200,000 in another area of Saskatchewan

• Authorities enter the Candidates in a pool in which they get a score. The candidates with the highest score get the invitation for submitting the application.

Application Norms:

• A Business Establishment Plan that confirms figures in Expression of Interest, and includes one-third company ownership in Saskatchewan, except when an investment is $1 million.

• They must commit to remain active in the daily business management

• They must create two jobs for permanent residents or citizens of Canada when the location of the business is in Saskatoon or Regina

• The Business Plans are assessed by professionals (third parties) as identified by the provincial government with a focus on preparation and meticulousness of the applicant while preparing the Business Plan.
