Immigration changes making tougher for students to migrate to Canada

In the year 2014, many overseas students who had graduated from the universities and colleges of Canada qualified to immigrate after doing job here for one year after graduation. But that has been changed previous January, when the Canadian government had introduced a system of immigration called as Express Entry.

Under the latest regulations, the immigration applications are given priority on the points based system. People with the government approved employment offers are processed first. While many overseas students have months and even years of work experience of Canada, most of their employment offers are not approved by the government.

The individuals with the government approved employment offers shall not be given priority for the immigration. These people has been identified as required by the employers of Canada and to get the approval from the government , their employers has to prove that there is no citizens of Canada or permanent resident of Canada who are willing and who can be able to take on these jobs. Clearly such type of applicants shall be given priority for the immigration. However, more chances shall be made for overseas students.

The main reason that Canada had opened the door of immigration to overseas graduates was due to government had seen that motivating the immigration from graduates from Canada, who can speak good level of English or French and who had worked, lived, studied and also had paid taxes in Canada was a better public policy.

The system of immigration does not reward enough points for the work experience and education for Canada. Under the Express Entry, people with the overseas education could score the equal number of points as those with the diploma and degrees of Canada.

The Express Entry did not see that the credentials of Canada are much valued by the employer of the Canada. Also the Express Entry also doesn’t see that in getting the education credential of  Canada the student had to mix into the society of Canada by residing here, spending money and working here.

Motivating the individuals with the education of Canada and work experience to migrate to Canada is the fractional answer to this problem. The solution to this problem is simple, rising the points that are available to the students who had studied or worked here to the level equivalent to that of the immigrants with the government approved employment offer. This would make sure that the overseas students would be permitted to immigrate to Canada.
