As per the 2018 year-end report compiled by IRCC regarding the events in Express Entry, the uppermost numbers in invitations to apply for PR were issued in favor of the Federal Skilled Workers.

Express Entry draws 


IRCC held 27 draws for Express Entry in 2018. Among the 89,800 ITAs issued in the draws, the share of Federal Skilled Workers was 53 percent. Additionally the share of the Canadian Experience Class was 34 percent. Subsequently, the Provincial Nominee Programs had a share of 12 percent and finally applicants in the Federal Skilled Trades received only one per cent ITAs.

The total numbers of invitations issued in favor of Federal Skilled Workers last year were 47,523. This was a record after launching the Express Entry system. There is a steady increase among the number of invitations issued to FSW.

Canada Federal Skilled Workers


The Federal Skilled Worker program is popular because of its benefits. It is one among the three immigration programs of Canada under the Express Entry system. Its eligibility norms for applying to get the permanent residence are that the candidate must meet specific criteria, such as good level of education, work experience, working age and proficiency in languages.

FSW Minimum requirements 


The aspirants must have one year work experience that is full-time, continuous in a skilled occupation under the classification of National Occupational Classification skill 0, A or B level. It has to be gained during the last 10 years. 

Language proficiency should be equal to CLB 7 in English or French in all the abilities covering writing, reading, listening, and finally speaking, Local educational credential like the degree, certificate, or diploma, or a foreign credential accompanied with Educational Credential Assessment report.

The assessment of candidates’ eligibility happens on the basis of the point’s grid. Eligibility norms highlight that the candidate has to obtain the minimum of 67 points in the program point grid.

The active steps in Canada Federal Skilled Workers


The candidates meeting these criteria successfully can submit their profile in Express Entry for the Federal Skilled Worker program. After the submission, these profiles get a Comprehensive Ranking score. The next step involves the top scoring candidates to get the invitation to apply seeking the permanent residence status. There are draws conducted regularly to realize this objective. Finally, on receiving this invitation, they can submit the PR application within 60 days.
